Fluvial Parade features Handuraw 2007


Heading from the Dakak Beach Park and Resort pier down to the landing site of Dr. Jose Rizal in Dapitan located in Sta. Cruz shores, the annual multihued and exceptional fluvial parade successfully highlighted the wide waters of Dapitan City stressing the second day of the 2nd Handuraw celebration last December 28, 2007 at 4:00 in the afternoon.

Among the fifty creatively-designed boats depicting the celebration and Rizal's legacies in Dapitan, entry number twenty two (22), representing Sicayab Bucana, Dapitan City, artistically overpowered the other forty nine fluvial float entries as they garnered the first place being the most decorated boat. Succeeding the said entry were boats number seventeen (17) and twenty four (24) which also brought the name of Brgy. Sicayab, Dapitan City, as they were announced the second and third places respectively. Brgy. Canlucani then got the fourth and fifth places with their fluvial boat entries numbers thirty two (32) and thirty one (31).

Special awards were also given to Noli Ybañez, Francis Pajarol, Fernando Sagaray and Fernando Saa as the designers of some of the boat entries and they received an amount of Php 1, 500 each.

The said fluvial parade was adjudged by Engr. Joseph Lore, Provincial Fisheries Officer, Dr. Rey Valenzuela and Ms. Maybell Cruz Bustaliño of the Provincial Agriculture Office.

Dr. Julianel A. Potoy, JRMSC Main Campus Administrator, was the chairman of the said fluvial parade competition which actually portrayed on our national hero's advent to Dapitan City making it the Shrine City of the Philippines.
