The seeded match of Jose Rizal Memorial State College, Main Campus, Dapitan City Men and Women’s Chess Squad stunned the equally wary Siocon’s team with a 3 – 1, 4 – 0 lopsided and symmetrical victory, respectively to stride into the top of the Chess Tournament penultimate round during the 5th JRMSC System Athletic Meet Wednesday, November 21 at the Dipolog Campus’ Chess Hall.
Dapitan’s triumphs of tough boards 1, 2, and 3 by Rey S. Dampayla, Romeo Lorisca Jr. and Noel Ferraren busted the back of their rivals – Edmar B. Buddih (82 min), Vidal M. Villarin Jr. (25 min) and Mahader Bin P. Sanal (77 min) correspondingly, though Damsel S. Guba of Siocon’s kismet overwhelmed its surge versus their Dapitan’s mate Troy Lasco toting up 92 minutes record finish.
In the women’s side, the Main Campus efficiently throve in delivering a Lucky Four, namely; Maria Mariz Catubig, Jeanne Warren C. Tomgon, Marie Therese G. Tingub and Ariane B. Suan conquering the chess boards 1, 2, 3 and 4 winning by default.
Dr. Salvador Y. Campiseño, JRMSC Dean of Graduate School and Dr. Victor L. Eguia, JRMSC System National Service Training Program Director were the coaches of the winning mind squad.
