JRMSC, DIPOLOG CAMPUS (November 20, 2007) – "In my capacity as the President of Jose Rizal Memorial State College (JRMSC) System, I have the honor to declare this 2007 Founder’s Week Celebration and Sports Festivity open."
This was the final statement Dr. Edgar S. Balbuena, President of JRMSC System, when he formally opened the 2007 JRMSC System Athletic Meet held in connection with the celebration of the 11th Founder’s Week, anchored on the theme: "JRMSC, Gearing to Greater Heights (Unity, Solidarity and Teamwork through Sports)."
"We are living in one family. We are here not to compete but to share our knowledge, talents, skills and integrity and dignity. Such values would in one way or another help us to become competitive players and globally competitive individuals," Dr. Balbuena said further.
In spite of the rainfall, the opening program was held a success. Rev. Fr. Bienvinido E. Hamoy Jr, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Turno, Dipolog City led the prayer. It was followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem which was led by the host campus’ band.
Later, the godfather of JRMSC, Former Cong. Romep G. Jalosjos Jr. expressed his gratitude to Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy for having extended her support for the development of JRMSC, Dipolog Campus. "I thanked the efforts exerted by the JRMSC Board of Trustees for making JRMSC System an effective institution of higher learning competitive to meeting and realizing the quest for holistic human development," said Hon. Jalosjos. He also underscored the merits of the academe and its future prospects for the promotion of quality education.
Consequently, the Physical Education, Sports and Athletics (PESA) Directors of each campus headed the raising of the delegation banners which was followed by the hoisting of the JRMSC System Athletic Sports banner led by Dr. Edgar S. Balbuena and the Campus Administrators of the five JRMSC campuses.
Mr. Adonis Ferraren then declared the athletes’ oath which was pursued by the oath taking of the officiating officials with Mr. Joven Perey, Sports Director of JRMSC, Katipunan Campus leading them. Dapitan City Mayor Dominador G. Jalosjos, the Guest Speaker gave his message after he was introduced by Dr. Cecilia S. Saguin, Vice President for Academic Affairs. It was deliberately followed by the lighting of the torch of friendship by Archie S. Piang.
Subsequently, Mrs. Rose Miranda, the Civil Registrar of Dipolog City delivered the speech of the Hon. Evelyn Tang Uy, Mayor of Dipolog City . In her message, Mayor Uy congratulated the entire JRMSC System. Dr. Balbuena, then gave his message and opened the system meet formally.
Mrs. Risa T. Mamigo was the lady of the ceremony.
