CED conducts orientation, seminar on basic education

TEACHER'S CENTER, DAPITAN CITY - The College of Education (CED) of Jose Rizal Memorial State College (JRMSC), Main Campus conducted an “Orientation and Seminar on Basic Education Curriculum”, on June 29, 2007.

The seminar aimed to acquaint with the tenets and creeds of basic education curriculum the fourth year education students for them to become competent teachers trained to be socially responsible professionals through Observation and Participation.

The said orientation and seminar was formally opened by a doxology and the singing of the Philippine National Hymn guided by some selected fourth year students. This was followed by the words of welcome conveyed by the Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Narcisa S. Bureros.

Subsequently, Mr. Teodoro T. Dionglay, Jr., Schools Division Superintendent of Dapitan City, conferred a message pointing out on the basic aspects needed to become competitive and efficient in the field of mentoring.

In the initial stage of the orientation proper, Elma E. Sangual, Asst. Schools Division Supt., discussed the “Background Information of BEC”.

The student- participants were then familiarized with the features of the learning areas and competencies on different subject matters.

Among the various learning areas covered with were: “Competency in Filipino” by Mrs. Ma. Liza R. Tabilon, ES 1 (Filipino), “Competency in English” by Mrs. Nieva M. Jarapan, ES 1 (English), “Competency in Mathematics” by Mr. Santiago M. Andag, ES-1 (Mathematics), “Competency in Science” by Mrs. Letecia P. Eguia, ES 1 (Science), “Competencies in MAKABAYAN” by Dr. Lilia L. Bravo, ES 1 (Social Studies), Mr. Simplicio P. Saguin, ES 1 (PESS), Mr. Francisco Q. Acbayan, ES 1 (TLE) Mrs. Marajani M. Jacinto, ES 1 (Values- Research of Evaluation).

In the closing ceremony, the governor of the College of Education, Shiela E. Dalogdog, gave her impression about the orientation and seminar, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Cecilia S. Saguin, delivered a message. It was then formally closed with the distribution of certificates by Dr. Julianel A. Potoy and closing remarks by Mrs. Vilma P. Bagsican.

The said activity was graced by various divertissements from the talents of fourth year students and was hosted by Dennis A. Maghanoy, fourth year CED Graduating Class President
