JRMSC-Main holds Academic Convo PRC Commissioner Nilo Roxas speaks


DAPITAN CITY MULTI-PURPOSE AND CULTURAL CENTER - Jose Rizal Memorial State College (JRMSC), Main Campus, Dapitan City informed the entire JRMSC-Dapitan faculty, employees and students of the new-fangled set of JRMSC, Main Campus Administrative Staff through the 2008 JRMSC Academic Convocation on July 22, 2008, 8 am.

The convocation started with an arrival tribute honoring Dr. Edgar S. Balbuena, SUC President II, JRMSC System and Hon. Nilo R. Rosas, Commissioner, Professional Regulation Commission in Manila.

This was immediately followed by the procession of the JRMSC Board of Trustees (BOT), Vice Presidents, deans, assistant deans, and other faculty and staff and employees of JRMSC, Main Campus.

The JRMSC Lundayan Choristers led the doxology and singing of the Philippine national hymn.

Afterwards, Dr. Julianel A. Potoy, Main Campus Administrator officially opened the undertaking by his welcome remarks. Then, Dr. Balbuena presented the administrative, deans, and chairmen designations.

The members of the BOT are Hon. Luningning Misuarez-Umar, Commissioner, Commission of Higher Education (Chairwoman); Dr. Balbuena, JRMSC System President (Vice Chairman); Senator Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Chairman, Senate Committee on Education, Arts and Culture (Member); Hon. Cynthia A. Villar, Chairwoman, House Committee on Higher and Technical Education (Member); Hon. Brenda L. Nazareth –Manzano, Region IX Director, Department of Science and Technology (Member); Hon. Arturo G. Valero, OIC-Region IX Director, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) (Member); Hon. Edwin B. Capili, Private Sector Representative (Member); Hon. Alberto L. Sales, Faculty Representative (Member); Hon. Jose Belen Q. Redillas, Private Sector Representative; Hon. Jorge Edrian Malzarte, Student Representative (Member); and, Hon. Amelia N. Jugadora, Alumni Representitive (Member).

Dr. Cecilia S. Saguin, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA); Dr. Evelyn R. Campiseño, Vice President for Planning, Research, Extension and Special Concerns (VPPRESC), and; Mr. Hermilo Hamac, Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) were the three (3) Vice-Presidents.

Dr. Jesusa R. Marañan is the Chief, Administrative Officer with Dr. Potoy as the Campus Administrator of the JRMSC, Main Campus.

Dr. Salvador Y. Campiseño, Dr. Erieda C. Acas, Dr. Narcia S. Bureros, Mr. Wilfredo D. Carreon Jr., Mrs. Daisy J. Empeynado, Mr. Jose P. Enojada, Mr. Quiliano E. Lasco, and Captain Alfredo G. Sy were designated as the dean for the Graduate School, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Education (CED), College of Business and Accountancy (CBA), College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CNAHS), College of Industrial Technology (CIT), College of Engineering (COE) and the College of Maritime Education (CME), respectively while Dr. Estela C. Macario is chosen as the dean for students services and affairs.

Dr. Balbuena also introduced the directors, namely; Dr. Victor L. Eguia for National Service Training Program, Mr. Jay D. Telen for Scholarships, Dr. Joseph Salvel R. Campiseño for Linkages and Housing, Mr. Felix D. Tagbac for Physical Education, Sports and Athletics (PESA), Mrs. Jona O. Daymiel for Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Judelyn J. Gallemit for Guidance Services, Mr. Dulas E. Bagsican for Security Services and Mr. Pio Minerales for Student Organizations.

Mrs. Marissa M. Recapente is the College Registrar and Mrs. Fe A. Alavanza is the College Librarian while the College Physician is Dr. Filipinas S. Nielo.

Miss Cherrie Mae J. Bongcawil is the College Accountant with Mrs. Lourdes T. Vallejos as the Budget Officer while Mr. Ivan H. Adrias is designated Supply Officer.

Mrs. Janet Grace Sarzuelo and Mr. Josemilo P. Jacinto are the advisers of "The State Collegian", official school publication of JRMSC and JRMSC- Main Supreme Student Government, correspondingly.

Later, the JRMSC Lundayan Dance Troupe showed their dancing prowess and dexterity during their intermission number which was followed by the introduction of the guest of honor by Dr. Balbuena.

Hon. Rosas, PRC Commissioner and the guest speaker of the said affair expounded on the value of education and keys significant for the development of an institution.

Dr. Balbuena also gave a message. Subsequently, Congresswoman Cecilia "Cely" Jalosjos-Carreon, through her daughter Angelica, freshmen AB Political Science of JRMSC, delivered a message. In her speech, she praised the JRMSC administration for the hasty development of the College compelling her to further press insistently JRMSC’s elevation into a University status.

The convocation was concluded by a closing annotation of Dr. Saguin, VPAA and was officially closed after the mass singing of the JRMSC Hymn.

Sir Jay D. Telen was the master of the ceremony.
