Dapitan edges Katipunan, 68-63

The pressing and confusing defense tactics of the Main Campus brisky dribblers got them ahead of the Katipunan team concluding the first play-off for Basketball men 68-63 in favor of the Main Campus on Wednesday morning, November 21, 2007 at the JRMSC Dipolog Basketball Ground.
Katipunan ace player and team Captain Michael Suganob anchored in to give JRMSC Katipunan 18 points higher than Dapitan ace player and team Captain Arnel de la Torre with only 14 points in a row.
The first quarter ended with 17-12 in good turn for the Main Campus players, scores remained static as the second quarter with 38-19, third quarter with scores 45-39 and the last quarters with final gains of 68-63 favored the Main Campus athletes. The agility and quick responses of the players from the Main Campus against the offense moves made by the Katipunan athletes paved way for the Main Campus to remain in constant lead.

Successful steals were for a short time enjoyed by Katipunan, but, unfortunately the adrenaline just did not wane in the Main Campus team members as the scores did not seesaw in favor for the Katipunan team.

The crowd arose in excitement as the ball shifted from team to team equally eager to take the lead spot for basketball men. Players Alfie Cordua, Joel Galleposo, Roy Xenon Fernando and Regie Kent Apostol displayed incredible offense attacks and three point shots to get ahead in the first half while Eliseo Hake, Denver Cuenca and Falmi Escubio attempted to neutralize the scores by exemplifying tremendous defenses and fakes for Katipunan.
The strong offense strategy of Katipunan team captain Michael Suganob got most of the audience cheering for him as he took the ball in control during the heights of the game with his unbelievable lay-ups and laid away shots which comprised a big part of the Katipunan team’s overall score.
